On July 9, Min Hee-jin, CEO of ADOR, a subsidiary of South Korea's largest entertainment agency HYBE, appeared before the police for questioning regarding allegations of occupational embezzlement.
According to the police, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul summoned Min Hee-jin, who is accused of occupational embezzlement, for questioning around 2 PM. Upon her arrival at the station at approximately 1:38 PM, she responded to reporters' questions by saying, "I will tell the truth. Occupational embezzlement doesn't make sense, does it?"
HYBE had filed a complaint against Min Hee-jin in April, alleging that she planned to usurp control of ADOR and committed occupational embezzlement against the subsidiary. HYBE claimed to have secured specific testimonies and evidence supporting these allegations.
However, Min Hee-jin's side has argued that due to the share structure, it is impossible for her to seize management control and that she has not attempted or executed any acts that would harm the company's value or constitute embezzlement.
Earlier, the Yongsan Police had questioned an associate of Min Hee-jin, who was also implicated in the case. Prior to that, in May, they interviewed individuals from HYBE as part of the complainant's investigation.
Min Hee-jin remains in her position as CEO following a court ruling in late May. The Seoul Central District Court upheld an injunction filed by Min Hee-jin to block the exercise of voting rights at HYBE's temporary shareholders' meeting. The court acknowledged that while Min Hee-jin might have explored ways to independently control ADOR, she had not moved into specific execution stages. The court noted that her actions could be seen as 'betrayal' but did not amount to 'embezzlement.'
This case continues to draw public and media attention as it unfolds, with significant implications for the involved parties and the broader entertainment industry.
