President Yoon Suk-yeol's Approval Rating and Public Opinion on Chae Sang-byeong Special Investigation

 

According to a recent public opinion poll conducted by Gallup Korea, President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating remains in the mid-20% range, while support for the introduction of a special investigation into Chae Sang-byeong exceeds a majority. This survey was conducted from June 25 to 27, 2024, with 1,002 adults aged 18 and over nationwide.

President Yoon Suk-yeol's positive assessment of state affairs stands at 25%, a 1% point drop from the previous week. In contrast, negative assessments increased by 2% points, reaching 66%. The main reasons for positive evaluations included diplomacy (29%), the expansion of medical school quotas (8%), and defense/security (7%). On the other hand, reasons for negative evaluations included the economy/livelihood/prices (14%), insufficient communication (7%), and overall poor performance (7%).

Party Support

In the party support survey, the Democratic Party of Korea ranked first with 32%, followed by the People Power Party with 31%. The National Innovation Party recorded a 10% approval rating, while the Reform Party and New Future Party recorded 4% and 1%, respectively. The non-partisan group, those who do not support any party, was at 21%.

Public Opinion on Chae Sang-byeong Special Investigation

Support for the introduction of a special investigation into Chae Sang-byeong stood at 63%, significantly surpassing the 26% opposed. This represents a 6% point increase in support compared to the previous month's survey. By ideological orientation, 82% of the progressive group, 73% of the moderate group, and 43% of the conservative group supported the special investigation. Among conservatives, 47% opposed it, indicating a split in opinion.
